Nia is an expressive movement practise blending the fluidity and fun of dance, the power and precision of martial arts and the alignment and sensitivity of the healing arts. Nia includes concepts and movements from Tai Chi, Tae Kwondo, Jazz, Modern Dance, Yoga and the Alexander Technique.

The ChiBall method has its origins in Taiji Ball training, an ancient Chinese Martial art which was done with a canon ball and emphasised control, elegance and strength. The practice works from the same understanding of Yin and Yang, the flow of energy (Chi) and the effects of the seasons. The ChiBall Method uses small light, aroma-scented coloured balls and is an accessible, graceful and conditioning body-mind practice.

Both these classes are suitable for a wide range of ages, fitness and stress levels and can be easily adapted. Nia is a faster paced class than the more mediative ChiBall.

These classes have easy to follow instructions, simple steps and movements working with rhythm for a healthy body and the mind. No prior experience is necessary.

Dancing, which requires learning new moves, is both physically and mentally challenging and requires concentration and is associated with a much lower risk of dementia.
